Purpose

The overall aim of Connex Community Support is to respond to community needs through the development of direct services and to provide volunteering infrastructure support to organisations and volunteers wanting information, advice and support with regard to volunteering.

Services

Volunteer brokerage – helping people who are looking to volunteer to find the right volunteering role for them. (Area covered: Derbyshire Dales and Buxton area)



Volunteering Development – supporting local, regional and national volunteer involving organisations to promote their volunteering opportunities. (Area covered: Derbyshire Dales and Buxton area)



Volunteer Transport Services – providing transport to medical appointments, social therapy activities and essential shopping trips. (Areas covered: Southern Derbyshire Dales and Buxton and High Peak area).



Readycall Macmillan Befriending Service – providing befriending and practical help to people aged 60 and over, and their carers, who are affected by cancer, or other life limiting conditions. (Area covered: Derbyshire Dales)



Handyvan Service – free fire and security checks, simple DIY tasks for vulnerable and older people. (Area covered: Derbyshire Dales and High Peak).



Wheelchair Loan Service – short term wheelchair loan. (Area covered: Southern Derbyshire Dales, Buxton and surrounding area)



Home Maintenance Service – Care and repair service including decorating, basic plumbing, home maintenance and gardening. (Area covered: High Peak)



Befriending Service (Buxton) – providing 1 to 1 befriending support and activity groups for people aged over 60 who have little or no social contact or family support.



Care and Support Older Adults – personal care and support in the home for older people.



Care and Support Children and Younger People – sitting and support service providing people up to age 55 with additional needs with respite and help to access activities. (Area covered: Derbyshire Dales, Chesterfield and High Peak)  Meet and Eat – Lunch Club for people aged 65 and over. (Area covered: High Peak)



Hearing Aid Battery Service – issuing of hearing aid batteries (Buxton).  Alive and Kickin' - Comic Relief funded project encouraging over 65's to stay active and engaged in their communities through a range of activities. Hoarding Clearance Service - helping owners of properties where hoarding has occurred to clear and clean (Area covered: Derbyshire and surrounding counties)

Opening Times Buxton office opening times: Monday - Friday 9.30am to 3pm Please note the office is closed for lunch between 12.30 and 1.00. Ashbourne office opening times: Mon to Fri 9.30 – 1.00pm.
Eligibility Criteria Eligibility depends on the service provided. However, all services are easily accessed and receive self-referrals, as well as via health and social care professionals.
