| Purpose | The aim of Surtal Arts is to promote health and well being, personal development, integration and understanding, supporting social and community cohesion, inside and outside its community through high quality Asian arts activities. We are committed to attracting culturally diverse audiences by increasing participation and engaging other communities in cross cultural arts activities and by promoting high calibre National and International artists. Surtal Arts is a South Asian arts organisation based in Derby. Surtal plays a significant role locally and regionally in promoting appreciation and practice of diverse art forms originating from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. |
| Services | Working closely with professional artists, youth, community groups, health practitioners and other organisations, Surtal promotes and develops South Asian art forms through: Regular youth programmes after school hours (eg Indian classical dance, Bollywood and Bhangra Dance, Indian drumming, Bollywood keep fit, yoga and meditation). Special commissioned festival projects, performances, drama/ theatre, training courses, conferences and seminars. Schools programmes - ongoing Cultural Awareness Training. Health awareness programmes through drama, showcases and promotion of UK based and international artists. |

| Eligibility Criteria | Our services are for children and young people (age 5 plus), women and elders over the age of 50. Surtal's work is open to anyone with an appreciation for South Asian arts and culture. |
