Purpose What we are About
Since the disappearance of the Bakewell Horticultural & Gardening Chapter around 1990, there has not been a local gardening group for Bakewell residents. The Bakewell Show in early August has its ‘Bakewell Horticultural Society’, which only operates during the Show, and engages people far from Bakewell.
So, what we have done is to
re-establish a self-supporting, self-perpetuating gardening community in Bakewell. The Bakewell Gardening Association encompasses residents who
Services Encourage good, sustainable gardening practice & methods
Encourage organic gardening methods and applications for both food production and ornamental growing

Arrange events and visits to attractive gardens and garden shows
Bring in speakers on relevant topics of interest to a range of gardeners and the general public

Actively support the establishment of new allotment gardens in Bakewell, like the award-winning plots we created on Monyash Road in 2009.
Build a supportive gardening community in Bakewell, where we help each other to be better gardeners - and have fun!

Eligibility Criteria If you have an interest in gardens and gardening, whether as a ‘spectator’ or ‘participant’ or both, please consider joining our gardening community. You will be very welcome!
Service Costs For only £5.00 per household per year, you get the following benefits: · Notification of our meeting dates · Advance priority on visits to gardens · Invitations to private functions · Invitations to social gatherings · Gardening advice - if you want it! · Priority on our allotment sites · Meeting other gardeners!
