Description A number of local organisations hvae come together to form 'Ashbourne Treasures' and are working together to put on a three-month exhibition in 2017, on three sites, linked by a heritage trail in the town of Ashbourne. The organisations are Ashbourne Old Trust, The Ashborne Heritage Society, the Old Ashburian's, St Oswald's Church and Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School. The three exhibition sites are the Ashbourne Library, the Heritage Centre and St Oswald's Church. These treasures include some rarely seen items from Ashbourne that are in museums or in private hands. One of these items is the original seal-die(1585) of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Ashbourne that is presently in teh British Museum and another, lodged in the Derbyshire Records Office, is the origional charter from Queen Elizabeth1 that has a portrait of her painted by Hilliard, her personal paortrait artist. Over 40 items will be on display.

Services To achieve are objects we also have other plans.
- A series of lectures some by well-known personlaities and others by local historians
- Guided walks to Wigber Low and a four mile walk of teh 1543 town map that at the time was drawn up as a result of a dispute over grazing rights
- A 'guide' book will be published taht will be available at the Tourist Information centre in the future
- New town Heritage walk
- Leaflets both gerneal and specific
- In the lead up to teh event teh local paper will publish a 'Treasure of the Week'
- Involvement of local primary schools regarding Tudor period. The exhibition is from July to Octobe and hence two schoold years will have the opportunity of attending
-Ashbourne Grammar School pupils will be involved with the IT, website development, leaflets etc. The pupils will be maded aware of their local history in detail shoudl they wish
- The town's Heritage inger-posts will be updated and re-furnished
- Display cabinets and display boards purchased will remain in the town for future use by various organisations
-A pre-event about Wogbor Low will be held that will include a lecture, a display including storyboards and some finds from the 1985 dig, a walk to the site and a trip to Museums Sheffield to view teh major items. The Low was both a Bronze-Age and an Anglo-Saxon burial site The three neighbouring primary schools will also use this as an educational oportunity
- At Easter 2017 an arts event will be hel for local people to show in peotry, art, music etc what an Ashbourne Traesure means to tehm
- In future years, on a small scale , we hope to hvae further exhibitions such as clocks (Ashbourne was a major clock making town), Shrovetide balls, qaurries etc
- Special arrangements will be made for those who have disabilities to view the items on display
