Purpose

The Farming Life Centre is a charitable company which provides a range of business and health related support and information services to the farming and rural community of the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Peak District.

In all its work the Centre seeks to improve the quality of life of farmers and their families, by promoting personal, social and economic wellbeing.

Services

The Farming Life Centre, we
work to bring people together to improve the experience for farmers and people
in our rural community.

We also keep in close
contact and work in partnership with other agencies, charities and organisations
to promote rural issues.

We host a number of social
and health related groups and projects for the farming and rural community,
including,  art group, and a thriving social
group for retired farmers, who meet each week, with monthly guest speakers and
a freshly prepared farmhouse cooked lunch.

Farm Business Development -
Funded by the Prince's Countryside Fund, this project provides support and
signposting to isolated farmers who typically do not access services elsewhere.
Support is provided to assist farmers to overcome their business challenges in
a timely way and to develop plans to develop their businesses into the future.
Farm Business Development Coordinator, Jonathan Charlesworth, delivers the
project on behalf of the Farming Life Centre.

Macmillan Rural Health
Outreach Service - provides health related information and support to farmers
and rural residents who are affected by cancer and other long term or life
limiting conditions. The project includes a regular outreach presence at farming
community events and befriending services for those who are isolated and
housebound. The Service is coordinated by Jane Butler..

We are located equidistant
from Buxton and Bakewell. - we support the ongoing activities at Bakewell
Livestock Market on Mondays where farmers have access to a nurse, physio and
other health professionals from time to time. We also attend Leek Livestock
Market and Holmfirth Attested Auction Market , dates are listed on our  website and social media sites.

Training and development for
Farmers - we work with other training providers and organisations to offer
suitable training (often free or at discounted rates) to our local farmers. For
example, we are coordinating an 'uplands academy' for dairy farmers in the area
- this is free of charge.

Facilities and function
rooms - we offer meeting rooms and facilities at the Farming Life Centre for
hire. Please contact us for rates.
